About Hooked on the Alabama River Festival of Fishing Lures
The Hooked on the Alabama River Festival of Fishing Lures is a city art project that will attract attention to the Alabama River, teach residents & visitors ways to protect the river and raise funds for the work of the Alabama River Clean Water Partnership. The project consists of 30 oversized fishing lures that will be creatively transformed into works of art by local artists. The lures, measuring 6 feet in length, will be unveiled at the Riverfront Amphitheatre in downtown Montgomery on September 15th and will then be displayed throughout Montgomery and Prattville through November 11th.
Businesses, corporations and individuals will sponsor the lures and select a design from a portfolio of work created by interested local artists. Two levels of sponsorship are available: Keeper and Catch & Release. Keeper sponsors receive first choice of design and will get to keep their lures. Catch & Release sponsors will return the lures to the Alabama River Clean Water Partnership. At the end of the event, the Alabama River CWP will auction select pieces while passing along some pieces to be used to attract attention to the other mighty rivers of our state.
